Feel my pain! The Intrepid Fox, Usability Hackfest, London 2010
I’m an enthusiastic software engineer working for Codethink Ltd. we’re a small software consultancy based on Mancester. I’m interested in making computers easier to use and more human and helpful rather than strict and procedural.
My main focus tends to be toward user interface, experience and interaction design and implementation. I write code in languages from C, Python, C++, Vala, C# with Qt, Gtk, Clutter, Cairo, Gstreamer or whatever libraries are available to achieve whatever goals I have.
As one of the founding members of SMASHED, the Single Malt Appreciation Society for Hackers, Engineers and Designers, I’m well known for my sarcasm, and satirical political anarchism, I may tend to insult at times but it’s generally meant in good humour.
I’ve had my hand in a great many little bits and bobs in the past including, freevo, wizbit, gnome system monitor, Maemo 5, wine-doors, cairo-dock among others with more to come in the future.
I’ve been around at GUADEC every year since 2006, and get to other conferences, hackfests and events from time to time.
QDH is a site I’ve had running for years, so it’s got a lot of broken links and things I intend to organise and fix as time goes by.
